Let’s talk about travel!
We are asking residents in the East End, Mount Gould and St Judes areas of the city to help with a short travel survey as part of our recently launched Plymotion project.
Plymotion aims to improve walking, cycling and public transport links and encourage people to try greener, cheaper and healthier ways of getting around.
One strand of the initiative - Plymotion on Your Doorstep - will involve travel advisors visiting local residents, chatting about how they get around the city and providing advice on the different travel options available to them. The team will be able to give residents one-to-one help with planning their journeys as well as information about various travel incentives on offer.
Plymotion on Your Doorstep will start in the East End area in July and the team will be visiting around 4,000 households. Before this first phase begins we would like to get an initial picture of how people in this area currently get from A to B and how aware they are of alternative travel options.
To help with this, residents are being asked to take part in a 10-minute phone survey, with a chance to win one of five £200 high street gift vouchers. Households included in the first phase will shortly be receiving a leaflet about the survey and how to register.
The surveys will be repeated at different stages during the three-year project to assess how ‘Plymotion on Your Doorstep’ affects how people travel.
Councillor Mark Coker, our new Cabinet Member for Transport said: “These travel surveys are a really important part of the Plymotion programme. The information we gather will help us to understand what shapes the way people travel and what advice and measures will be most useful to them. The more information we have, the more informed we are when making future decisions that affect transport provision in the city.”
Residents in the East End, Mount Gould and St Judes areas who would like to know more can email plymotion@plymouth.gov.uk or call 01752 668000.
