MORE BUS NETWORK CHANGES ANNOUNCED FOR SEPTEMBER

Following changes to bus services on 25 July, Management at Plymouth Citybus have confirmed that an additional round of changes to routes and timetables will be introduced from Sunday 5th September 2010. Many routes will see improvements to Sunday daytime services funded by the withdrawal of some evening services that do not attract enough passengers.

A total of 25 Plymouth Citybus services will see changes to either routes or timetables.

Services with changes to time tables or routes on Sundays include service 5, 5A, 8, 9, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 26B,  29,  34, 35, 40, 41, 42,  43,  44,  46,  47,  50,  61 and 62A.

Services removed but replaced on Sundays with improved services are the 24 - now covered by an improved 23 service and the 62A is enhanced with an improved Service 61.

The only services to be cut completely are the 33D and the 133.   Service 34 will partly replace these buses. Service 46 and 47 is to be withdrawn on Sundays and Bank Holidays. This is partly replaced with improved Service 26, 42 and the Service 50.

From the 20th September Service 46 and the Service 47 is to be withdrawn from Mainstone and will instead operate back into Peter Park Road and Wilton Street.

Services with changes to time tables or routes on weekdays include Service 8, 14D, 34, 35, 40, 44.

Services with changes to time tables or routes on Saturdays include Service 34, 35, 40, and Service 44. Service 35 has been retimed to improve passenger comfort with all evening services to the Barbican Leisure Park withdrawn.

Services 26, 35, 42 and the Service 50 are to receive a new timetable with the frequency of buses increasing from hourly to every 30 minutes and in the case of the Service 26 the frequency will increase to every 20 minutes.

“We have made every effort to use our resources wisely.  By reducing some evening services that attract few passengers we have been able to increase the number of buses on many daytime routes,  This will benefit existing and attract more bus users,” said Andrew Wickham.
